Make the Trump Class Afraid Again- Destroy What Destroys You
“We have police departments which act as a paramilitary political force, controlling politicians, contributing to non profits, and building relationships with 'community leaders' who are too cowardly to stand up to their corruption.”

Trump will be holding a luncheon fundraiser in the concentration of wealth that is the Hamptons this Friday, with tickets up to $250,000, more than what most of us will make in an entire year. It should be of no surprise to anyone that Trump has an obsession with Long Island, and he has so many reasons to do so. As a region, we are one of the most segregated areas in the entire country. White supremacists like Steve Levy and Lee Zeldin have held political power within recent years. The cost of living is so high, even those making $100,000 a year are precarious, living paycheck to paycheck, unable to afford childcare, unable to save, unable to have free time, working multiple jobs, and one financial emergency away from their world’s falling apart.

On Long Island, we have racist quality of life laws which forbid you from entering certain parks or pools if you are not resident. We have bridges, intentionally structured to be too low to allow for buses, and in extension populations who use the bus, from entering. We have police departments which act as a paramilitary political force, controlling politicians, contributing to non profits, and building relationships with ‘community leaders’ who are too cowardly to stand up to their corruption. There is little public space, everything is a mall, the only recreation Long Islanders know is consumption. Young people either hope to leave Long Island one day, or have despair-fueled addictions.

The problem isn’t you or your work ethic, it is the capitalist condition, it is the system that has a human and a non-human class, and in our region the differences are stark. you can feel it it is in the air, the despair, the anxiety that is all around us.

In light of the recent shootings in Gilroy and El Paso white supremacy has, again, demonstrated its monstrous potential. It is absurd to think that we can let white supremacists spread their hate, with impunity, and not watch them enact racist violence in our communities. Night after night we watch Trump actively encourage nationalism and now, expectedly, the effects are being felt. We want to say enough is enough. How long will it before we have a massacre in a Latinx, Black, or Jewish neighborhood? How many massacres do we have to witness to realize that standing on the sidelines, or waiting for an election is not an option? Neither Trump or his followers should find a safe haven on Long Island any longer. The political class and non profit world have provided cover, but the time to choose sides is now.

As the bigots, the rapists, those invested in having a carceral class eat, this is an invitation to fellow criminals and abolitionists to organize so that this is the last time time they feel comfortable eating while we starve.
