An End to White Supremacist Mass Shootings
The two white supremacist mass shootings this week have made it clear that the far right strategy of decentralized terror attacks is now in full swing.
White supremacist shooters gunned people down at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas; and the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California. The shooter in El Paso stated in his manifesto that his attack was “a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas,” unquestionably reiterating Trump’s campaign slogan about a migrant invasion of the US. The two-pronged assault from the State and the street-level fascists shows how grave the situation is.
The State is directly stoking hatred, ripping families apart through deportations and kidnapping children, and locking people up in the modern-day concentration camps of ICE detention and prisons.
While the white supremacist foundation of the US has created the conditions for this to happen, it is liberal democracy that paved the way for a fascist rise to power. It is clear that this racist, fascist movement seeks to expel, kill, or criminalize anyone not deemed pure, and the acceleration of these attacks means that the conflict against the right must accelerate.
Capitalist society and the American State have been the incubator for white supremacy, and to rid the world of one we have to rid the world of all. They must be battled relentlessly. To finally rid our communities of this danger, we must rebuild society based on principles that value life and liberation.
As we mourn the loss of lives from the most recent wave of attacks, we must also rise to the occasion. Our courage comes from the deep lineage of resistance – from Harriet Tubman to Kuwasi Balagoon to Willem Van Spronsen. On the shoulders of these giants, we will prevail in the battle for anarchism over annihilation.
